Karting – Greatest distance traveled in 24 hours indoors (Team)
New World Record Attempt
Owner of Slideways Go Karting Australia and V8 Ute driver Cam Wilson, and his team, will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for “Karting – Greatest distance travelled in 24 hours indoors (team)” from Tuesday 17 February, 2015.
Cam will endure the overnight challenge, suiting up alongside five teammates to raise money for a charity close to his heart, Huntingtons Queensland.
Huntingtons disease is a neurological, hereditary disorder that affects a person’s ability to talk, think and move, leading to cognitive decline and mental health issues. Nearly seven in every 100,000 Queenslanders are diagnosed each year.
Cam tragically lost his father Murray to the disease in early 2014 and lives with the 50 per cent prospect he has inherited the defective gene. Huntingtons Queensland provided ongoing support to the Wilson family over the 10 years following Murray’s diagnosis, and Cam is determined to give back as much as he can.
At his first overnight marathon attempt earlier this year, Cam set a new record of 604km for “Karting – Greatest distance travelled in 24 hours indoors (individual)”, and raised over $20,000 for Huntingtons Queensland. Cam’s next attempt will take place at Slideways Go Karting Gold Coast at Nerang from noon on Tuesday 17 February until Wednesday 18 February.
Cam has chosen long-standing Slideways Go Karting Australia staff members to join him on his mission – Dan Tuite, Tim Harris, Daniel Goddard, Chris Hinton and Nathan Roach.
The team are aiming to raise $48,000, please get behind them, and donate to this worthy cause!
You are also invited to join in the festivities over the 24 hours as the Slideways team races to raise funds and awareness for Huntingtons Queensland! So please dig deep and donate for this great cause!
